[Sweden] Crown Princess Victoria gives birth to future heiress

Almost two years ago at her lavish wedding, Victoria of Sweden thanked fellow countrymen for giving her her prince, former gym owner, Daniel Westling.
Now, the most modern fairytale in royal history has been marked by another happy chapter as the couple welcome a little princess – the first child to be born into the highest family in the land for three decades.

Beaming at Stockholm's Karolinska Hospital, the former businessman, now Prince Daniel, excitedly shared the news the whole country had been waiting to hear.
He revealed that their baby girl made her entrance at 4.26am, and tipped the scales at 7lb 3oz, holding up his hands to demonstrate the size of his tiny daughter.
"There is a radiant, happy new mother with a baby in her arms. There is something special about becoming parents," Daniel said emotionally.
He added that mother and daughter were "doing very well" but admitted to being overwhelmed, saying: "My feelings are all over the place right now."
The new dad cut his daughter's umbilical cord after she was delivered by Doctor Lennart Nordström.
"They came in just before 1am, so it all went fairly quickly," the medic told the press, adding that he'd been on standby since the New Year and had not left Stockholm.
Sweden’s new princess shares a unique royal destiny with her mother Victoria, who is next in line to the throne currently held by her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf.
Daniel said that his father and mother-in-law, Queen Silvia, had been informed of the birth and "are very happy".

[United-Kingdom] [VIDEO] Prince William's Godparents and family at his Christening (1982)

Prince William was born at St Mary's Hospital in London on June 21st, 1982, the elder son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, the Prince and Princess of Wales. He was baptised in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace on 4 August 1982 (his paternal great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's 82nd birthday).

William's godparents are:
  • former King Constantine II of Greece
  • Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Mrs Angus Ogilvy (the youngest granddaughter of King George V of the United Kingdom and Mary of Teck & widow of Sir Angus Ogilvy)
  • Natalia Grosvenor, the Duchess of Westminster
  • Lady Susan Hussey (Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth II)
  • Lord Romsey (himself a godchild of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh)
  • Sir Laurens van der Post.
As a male-line grandchild of the sovereign and son of the Prince of Wales, William was styled His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, though he was affectionately called Wombat by his parents or Wills (the latter a name coined by the press by which he is still known by the general public).

[Denmark] [VIDEO] Birth and Christening of Prince Frederik (1968)

I really admire and am thankful to people who upload these videos on youtube. Nothing like pictures and footage to see history in the making. He christened his baby twins last week, but we get to see Crown Prince Frederik at birth. Absolutely lovely. He was born on May 26th, 1968 and christened Frederik André Henrik Christian.

[Christening] Danish royals twins christened in Copenhagen VIDEO

The royal parents were just drooling over their babies. Their two older children were extremely cute, focusing on being steady and sitting on their own little royal thrones. Princess Isabella being affectionate with her little sister. Proud grandparents. Queen Margrethe could not showcase a wider smile. Baby Vincent crying while entering the Kingdom of God - cutest moment ever - and baby Josephine just being a quiet lovely doll. BTW, I think it's the first time Crown Prince Frederik is holding his baby during a christening as it's usually CP Mary's task. Correct me if I am wrong. Prince Christian being adorable, playing with the program with his parents insignia. And at last but not least, princess Isabella waved her grandparents. There was just too much sweetness during this ceremony!

And she looked stunning in a blue dress during her children's christening. But she seemed to have to pay extra attention on the steps with those heels, didn't she?

The brother of the father, Prince Joachim, attended with his wife Princess Marie and his three boys, Nicolai, Felix and baby Henrik. Princess Marie was one of the godmothers (check full list of godparents here). She looked stunning, didn't she?

[Christening] Discover the meaning of the baby twins' names!

So, the little princess is Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda. Ivalo means "tendon, thread" in Greenlandic. The little prince is Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander. Frederik, after his father and following the custom that Danish princes tend to have either Frederik or Christian among their given names. Minik, a popular Greenlandic name in use for both genders meaning "viscid train oil which is being used as sealing for skin boats.

[Christening] Discover the Danish baby twins names! How do you like them?

It was a moving moment, as proud parents Frederik and Mary of Denmark christened their baby twins. In line with tradition, their names had been kept under wrapped until the ceremony. But the three-month-old twins are now known to the world as Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander and Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda.
The intimate ceremony took place at Holmen church in Copenhagen, which holds a special place in the heart of the twins' grandmother, Queen Margrethe, who was married there in 1967.
The little princess wore a christening robe of white cotton batiste and a bonnet which belonged to her great-grandmother Queen Ingrid.
And the little prince wore a gown fashioned from Brussels lace, which was originally made for the christening of future King Christian X in 1870.
Meanwhile, mum Mary looked stunning in a structured blue shift dress and white feathered headpiece, whilst Frederik complemented her look in a navy suit.
The select gathering who were present to witness the happy moment consisted of close friends and family, including Frederik's parents Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, and his brother, Joachim.
The royal guest list was smaller than usual for this type of event as none of the major members from the royal houses of Sweden, Norway or the Netherlands were able to attend due to official engagements.

I don't dislike the name Vincent but absolutely love Joséphine. It makes them go back to their French roots (from CP Frederik's paternal side).

[Denmark] Crown Prince Frederik gives us more details on newborn twins

Crown Princess Mary gave birth to two healthy children this morning at Rigshospitalet.
The first child delivered, a son, was born at 10:30 weighing 2674 grams and measuring 47 centimeters.
The second child, a girl, was delivered 26 minutes later weighing 2554 grams and measuring 46 centimetres. Both reportedly have dark hair.
While the kingdom has been left guessing about the genders since it was announced in August that the Australian-born Mary, 38, was expecting twins, the closest members of the royal family were aware of their genders, according the crown prince.
No names have been mentioned for the twins yet, but Frederik, 42, noting that today is also Elvis Presley’s birthday, joked “we can call one of them Elvis for now”.
The twins are the third and fourth children for the royal couple. Their first, Prince Christian, was born in 2005 and is second in line to the throne after his father. Princess Isabella was born in 2007 and is third in line.
As is the case with most multiple births, mother, father and the two newborns will remain in the hospital for up to seven days.
