[Denmark] Princess Marie will not attend New Year Courts Gala

Princess Marie of Denmark will not attend the New Year Courts Gala in Amalienborg that we are used to seeing in Denmark each year. As she is due to give birth in January, as was CP Mary last year - and that didn't attend last year either - she will be on bed rest. Hope the entirely family will be together for next year's.

[Denmark] Prince Joachim and Princess Marie expecting a baby due in January 2012 #royalbabyboom

I know, I know, these are not recent news, but I did not find the time to publish them before. Prince Joachim will have a fourth child and it will be baby number 2 for our lovely Princess Marie. Cannot believe little Prince Henrik will be a big brother already! And yes, we are in royal baby boom! Joy joy joy!

Which other babies are on the way? Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden's first baby, Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece's first baby, Peter and Autumn Phillips (son and daughter in law of Princess Royal) are expecting their second one.

South Korean leader made official visit to Denmark this week

This wednesday, Queen Margrethe, accompanied by her sons Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim, her daughter in law, Princess Marie and sister Princess Benedikte welcomed South Korean President Lee Myung Bak to Denmark, the second stop on a week-long European visit.

Lee arrived from Germany where he has met with, among others, Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Christian Wulff.

The two-day visit in Denmark includes talks on trade, research and cooperation, including on green growth.
On Thursday, the president's final day in Denmark, he is set to meet with Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen.

Denmark is a member of the European Union, and on July 1st a free trade treaty between South Korea and the bloc was due to come into force. The Confederation of Danish Industry said it hoped to the free trade agreement would help triple Danish exports to South Korea, last year estimated to be worth almost 700 million dollars. France was the president's next and last stop.

[Denmark] How Princess Marie started growing on me...

It took me a bit of time to take interest on Princess Marie or to read and research more about her. I spent a few years being a Frederik-Mary fanatic, and Joachim was always a bit left out. Things have changed recently and I really like and admire their dynamic. Prince Joachim rebounded from his divorce with Countess Alexandra with a lot of integrity and discretion and Marie was introduced in a very smooth way, with a discreet courtship. We have also seen her attend her stepchildren's birthday at Alexandra's place, what is expected from a mature and respectful divorce relationship that followed. She always expressed herself elegantly - she was absolutely amazing during their engagement interview - and am sure she is gaining (if she has not gained already) the Danish people's heart. I am no Danish language expert, but those who are also commend her for her effort and almost flawless Danish. I have been watching Australian channel SBS's documentary called The Kingdom Behind The Scenes - check it out, it's really interesting - and knowing her better and appreciating the person that she is. And her presence at her nephew and niece's christening in mid-April (pictured), with such poise and elegance - and as a godmother - was the epitome of class expected from a real princess.

[Christening] Prince Joachim, princess Marie and their kin

The brother of the father, Prince Joachim, attended with his wife Princess Marie and his three boys, Nicolai, Felix and baby Henrik. Princess Marie was one of the godmothers (check full list of godparents here). She looked stunning, didn't she?
