Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark - Day 1 in Australia (part 1)

On the one hand, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark were on official duties as they began their tour of Australia.

But the royal couple, who are known for putting family first, were also busy entertaining twins Josephine and Vincent during the visit.

The Danish Royals have returned to Mary's homeland for a six day tour, and it seems the down-to-earth couple will be balancing work and family whilst on the road.

Joining them were their adorable 11-month old tots who were described by their father as "miracles times two" when they were born in January of this year.

And in a nod to their mum's roots, the twins were clutching a stuffed koala and kangaroo –a gift from Australia's Governor General, Quentin Bryce - who also attended their opening photo call.

There was no sign of the couple's other two children five-year-old Christian and Isabella, who is three.

They spent their first day in typical Aussie style, enjoying a beach stroll and a barbecue before zipping round the harbour on a boat.

With official duties and children taken care of, they got into the competitive spirit as they hopped onto some excercise bikes at the during the launch of an arts project.

Australian politician, Barry O'Farrell, was on hand to welcome Mary and her husband to Sydney and had glowing words for his guests .

"Like many Australians, we share in the royal romance and relationship that some have described as a fairytale'' he said.

This is the royals first official visit to Australia since 2008.

Spotted: Queen Sofia having one fine night at the Opera

Queen Sofia was spotted yesterday at the premiere of the opera "Saint Francis of Assisi", by Olivier Messiaen, who was first introduced to Spain in its stage version in "The Way to Holiness" . The Opera had to take place at the Madrid Arena and not a theater in the capital due to the complexity of production. 

The Queen was well accompanied as she was sitting by the Minister of Culture, Ángeles González Sinde, and the mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón. At the end of the spectacle, the Queen went to greet the artists after the performance and passed her enthusiasm for this difficult and complex play, directed by one of the foremost experts on Messiaen, Sylvain Cambreling with a production by Emilia and Ilya Kabakov.

Clotilde Courau, Princess of Venice and Piedmont, at the Cannes Film Festival

Clotilde Courau, the actress-turned-Princess yet still an actress attended the Cannes Film Festival on May 13th and 14th. The first time was to attend the premiere of the film "Polisse" and the second one, to watch "Pirates of the Caribbean 4". 

All the meters of textile that she had cleaning the floor on the second day could have been a good fit for her first outfit for its lack thereof.

[Denmark] Crown Princess Mary attends the Reumert awards in style

Our lovely Crown Princess Mary is back at work in full force. We saw her last week launching an annual campaign to fight skin cancer. 

According to Svenskdam, she has been given back more and more events on their royal agenda after her twins birth subsequent break. 

A few days ago, she seen out and about in Copenhagen: the Crown Princess attended the prestigious Reumert Awards for various artists and visited the backstage at the Royal Theater Gamle Scene, Copenhagen.

According to the blog Royal Fashionistas, Mary's attire was a gorgeous dark blue lace dress by Prada and Louboutin shoes in the same color.

By the way, if you feel kind of familiar to the dress, it's because it's one she is wearing in one of the official pictures of the website she shares with her husband. I love the detail. Do you prefer seeing her wearing it with her hair down or in the updo? I vote for the later! 

Royalty vs Hollywood: The Queen's obvious younger twin would be...

Well, I do not think they look alike at all but what I do think is that Helen Mirren did a marvellous job being The Queen in the eponymous movie in 2006 - by the way, just looking at her made me want to watch the movie again - and I found it delightful to see pictures of them together, at a celebration for Young Talent that happened in Buckingham. The flashmob that occurred yesterday was also part of this event.

[The Netherlands] Exhibition celebrates Princess Maxima's Ten Years in the country [VIDEO]

The exhibition Princess MÁXIMA, 10 years in the Netherlands will be on open at Paleis Het Loo from May 8th to September 4th, 2011. This unique exhibition will be highlighting the princess’s place in the royal family alongside the diverse social activities that Princess Máxima has undertaken during the past decade in Dutch society.

Princess Máxima has been living in the Netherlands now for a decade. As a wife and mother she has her role in the succession of the dynasty but she has also made an indelible mark on Dutch society and beyond through her intensive and accomplished work. Film and photographs of all the different roles Princess Máxima fulfils will be part of the exhibition. The princess has acquired a significant position in Dutch society.

The first official introduction of the Dutch people to the princess, namely the announcement of her engagement to Prince Willem-Alexander on television in 2001, is at the same time the start of the exhibition. Next comes the couple’s tour of the country to introduce the princess to the people of the twelve Dutch provinces. In 2002 came the wedding and then the christening of Princess Amalia. As wife of the Prince of Orange she is present at the annual state opening of parliament, the celebration of the Queen’s official birthday, state visits and special ceremonies at other foreign royal courts. Together the royal couple take part in official foreign visits and represent the Netherlands at major international events such as the Olympic Games.

Princess Máxima has a variety of social commitments. As patron of the Oranje Fonds charity, organisation she is closely involved in activities such as community work, buddy projects and promoting better prospects for young people. As honorary chair of the national partnership 'Centiq, Wiser in Money Matters', the princess seeks to draw particular attention to the importance for young people of learning about financial matters and how to deal with money. For years the princess has devoted her efforts at home and abroad to better access to financial services for all, some of them on behalf of the United Nations. She sees the promotion of entrepreneurship as an instrument for participation and economic self-reliance and dignity.

Princess Máxima always carefully matches her attire to the occasion. Some of her elegant outfits, reflecting her own stylish taste, will be on view during the exhibition including her magnificent wedding dress by the designer Valentino, some examples of ceremonial dress but also creations that she has worn for activities on all kinds of occasions.

I love when Maxima does her "be right back at you in one minute". Gotta love her!

[Spain] Queen Sofía attended a concert for charity with her sister, Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark

Queen Sofia of Spain and her sister, Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark, attended a concert for the organization "Proyecto Hombre", that helps former drug addicts in their daily life reinsertion. This event occurred in Palma, in Majorca, in the Balearic Islands. The event sold out 1 750 tickets, which profits will solely go to the charity involved.
